Ba Be National Park is the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam with exceptional fish diversity, a population of langurs, over 200 bird and 350 butterfly species, geological treasures and mature primary limestone forest. In places like this, careless tourism can bring human disturbances and endanger this heritage, while thoughtful Ba Be with a controlled impact provide excellent support to conservation projects in the area and help the economies of local people. We share your desire for the latter option and promise that nature knows how to return your kindness. Surrounded by the lush green of the forest we hope you enjoy and learn from the time spent with all of our friends there and raise a glass of corn wine with your hosts, toasting to the health of our shared environment

Tour itinerary:
Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (L, D)

You will be collected from your hotel in Hanoi at 07.30 to 8:00 AM. On the way we will stop in Thai Nguyen to visit the marvellous Museum of the Culture of the Ethnic Minorities of Vietnam, followed by lunch in a street restaurant.
We then leave the main road to take a smaller one snaking through the mountains and tea plantations, and arrive in the Tay village of Coc Toc, where you will be welcomed by Mr. Linh and his amazingly friendly Tay family in their traditional house. If it's hot, do like the local kids, just jump in the lake! You will enjoy a superb dinner with Linh and his lovely family on the lake terrace. Overnight in Mr Linh's homestay.
Day 2 Boat trip on Ba Be Lake (B, L, D)

A treat! Breakfast on the terrace, then short drive to the house owner's boat, which will take you through the entire length of the 3 connected lakes (Ba Be - "3 bays") and up the Nang River, to an astonishing site: Dong Puong, an enormous tunnel (300m long by 30m high) that the river has cut through a lime mountain. We will continue to Cam Ha village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people amongst the green rice fields. The boat then goes up river to the small village of Hua Tang. If you have imagined simple and authentic ethnic minority villages, this is what you have been dreaming of! Lunch is in a local house alongside the river.
After lunch, a short walk (20 m) through the jungle takes you to the very scenic Dau Dang Waterfalls, a series of spectacular cascades between sheer rock walls. You may continue the trail to arrive in a large river bend full of colourful local life, with a small "harbour" . Here the locals unload goods to bypass the falls by motorbike and then reload them on boats to go through the lake. Return by boat for another delightful evening at your Tay house.
Day 3 Ba Be Lake -  Hanoi (B, L)

After breakfast we will stroll along the riverfront, visit some lovely Pac Ngoi village where most Tay people keep traditional houses and hike the upper reaches of the lake, in an area marked by massive limestone cliffs and mountains. Later our car driver will take you to Amazing Hua Ma cave and “Pass” then stop so you can take amazing photos of the terraced fields.
